Last week sports gods and goddesses came out for the night to celebrate their achievements in the athletic world and to show off their fashion savvy (or lack thereof) outside the stadium. Here are some top picks from the night.


Blake Griffin is easily sporting the best look of the night. His light grey three piece suit is perfectly paired with a patterned tie picking up the blue tones in his jacket and a tie bar to add some extra interest.

Well doesn't he clean up nicely, kinda. Tim Thomas of the Bruins managed to keep a slightly unkempt look while at the same time looking as polished as we have ever seen him. Blue is a great color for him and the monochromatic palate is understated enough to make him feel comfortable in that suit.


For a bowtie that really pops use contrasting colors like Tyson Chandler of the Mavericks. The large black bowtie against the white shirt and cream tuxedo jacket really make a statement.


This one needs no explanation. Brian Wilson of the Giants has very specific taste.

We're Now Making House Calls

We love helping people look and feel their best and want to make it more accessible. We understand our clients are busy people and carving out time to come to the studio can be difficult, therefore we want to bring the Design It Yourself process straight to the office.

*9tailors On-Location Program Guidelines

• For the 9tailors On-Location ("On-Location"), there no set-up costs or minimum purchase required. However, if the location is outside of 30 miles outside of Boston, a transportation fee of $25.00 may be required.
• Available in New England only.  
• On-Location activities include helping clients get measured, design shirts and select fabrics. Follow-up fittings can also be arranged.  
• Design and measurement consultations available for men and women.
• Minimum of 3 people per event.
• The organizer will receive $10 off per person who purchases. If you contact us before August 31st, 2011 and set up an on-location fitting, we will give you 1 free shirt valued at $100.**
• If the event does not meet the above minimum standards, 9tailors holds the right to decline the event. 
• On-Location may be subject to availability.

Get This: Wedding gifts

A toaster? I'm sure every couple is absolutely thrilled when they get that super practical kitchen appliance out of that beautiful box, but where is the fun. Leave the kitchenware to their Uncle Milton and get your friends entering into eternal bondage something exciting that will not collect crumbs or dust.

The Almighty Dollar makes a practical gift that retains its fun. Many couples do cash registry to make it easier on you. If not, cold-hard-cash fits nicely into a decorative envelope.

Think out of the box (if your close enough). If you know where the couple is going to honeymoon, get them a gift certificate to your favorite restaurant in the area. Make sure they know this is a time-sensitive gift and don't leave it in the heap to be opened later.

Sign them up for a reoccurring gift, like a wine of the month club. That way they will be able to enjoy your gift all the time! Make sure the couple is really into whatever you choose beforehand. You don't want them to deal with a bad gift that comes every month.

Other tips:
Don't spend less than $50 on their gift.
Don't get too creative if it is someone you aren't as close to, chances are they will be returning it. If you aren't close enough to get them something creative, go with an expensive gift off their registry. It is probably something they would really like but may not have the funds for at the moment.
Have gifts shipped to their residence so they don't have to deal with a pile of prettily wrapped boxes at the end of the night.

Friends don't let friends dress badly. Shirts cut so wide they could double as maternity clothes, arms that accentuate how built you aren't, and collars that call up mental images of Saturday Night Fever. This need not be you- or the ones you love.

After we get your measurements (and hopefully your friends) and finalize the ultimate fit, it could be as simple as an email to get another shirt made. No malls, no dressing rooms, no frustrating sales people. Just consistently perfect shirts made just for you.
