Mystery Married Style Consultant Revealed!

Tomorrow night is the night for first loves, long loves and those awkward ones where you don't want to call them your love, but you have romantic feelings for that person you've been hanging out with, but are unsure of how they feel. So, you just kind of like them... and hope they like you back.

So rare are the days where you get it right on your first try and don't need to learn the rules or games of the dating world. Luckily, there are still modern love stories that are reminiscent of past times with love at first sight and no awkward exes.

Meet our beloved Style Consultant and Alterations Manager, Karly.
A sweetheart from the South with a romantic love story to match the tender love that is associated with a Southern Gentleman.

Her Love Story:

It was her Junior year in High School when Karly began working at the local coffee shop, Convenant Coffee. Her days were filled with making caramel mochas and peanut butter mochas, better than any other place around. A fun after school job with her fellow co-worker, Shane. Shane didn't go to the same high school as Karly and only talked during work while serving strawberry and cream cheese croissants. Karly had a crush on Shane, but didn't know how he felt about her. So, she never made a move.

Her crush became dormant as she went to college in Nebraska and he remained in North Carolina for his studies. Little did they know, they thought of each other.

Thank goodness for Thanksgiving and being home for the holidays. All was not lost. Shane asked Karly out over the long weekend and began a long distance relationship by the time Christmas came. After her first year away in Nebraska, she transferred colleges back to North Carolina. Home is where the hear is. Karly knew he was the one once they were together again.

Shane designed Karly's engagement ring. He carved it out of wax and had it casted before popping the question.

His Proposal:
"He's a little bit of a joker. I was kind of expecting it but didn't know when. Of course, he wanted it to be a surprise. We went out to dinner as a week late birthday dinner for me. We went to the restaurant where we had our first date in downtown Charlotte. When we got to downtown, there was a really big 7 - 10 story parking deck. There are spots everywhere but he continues to go up to the roof deck and then we have to go all the way down for dinner. There was no one else for the top 7 stories, it was completely desolate. After dinner we walk around and I'm wondering if he was trying to lead me somewhere. But it begins to rain. So, we go back to the car. We get to the car and tries to start it but it won't start. I thought he was joking but it really wasn't starting. He went to the front of the car, under the hood to check the engine. He sends me to the driver seat to try starting it again and still nothing. He has me come around to the front of the car to help him. So, I walk over to look under the hood and then he got down on one knee.

He set up the whole thing. He pulled something out to prevent it from starting so I could help him with the engine and just put it back in afterwards so we could get out of the rain. He had a cheesy song mix prepared for our ride back. Everything was wedding related, it was really funny. Some of the stuff was really nice but then there were some horribly corny ones"

Shane and Karly's Wedding Picture

It only took Shane two years to propose with a walk down the aisle eight months later! By this coming May, they will have been married for a solid four years.

Their Secret:
Karly and Shane have similar personalities and balance each other out in different ways. Also, they are both really creative. They like to make their gifts for one another instead of defaulting to buying something. It keeps them constantly thinking of one another and new ways to keep things exciting.

And they're living happily ever after...

Where and when was the big day?
09/22/2012, Middletown, RI

How was the weather? Was your wedding indoors/outdoors?
Weather was perfect. Ceremony was indoors and the reception was partially outdoors.

Why did you decide to go with 9tailors on your own custom design?
Because I think it's more important to invest in something you will have forever, instead of renting. Once I decided to go in that direction, 9tailors was the only option.

Describe your 9tailors experience and items.
It was greatKim, Sam and Alex treated us like kings. They kept us very informed, answering every strange question we had about the process. They were also very accommodating, they even went to my groomsmen in CT and NY to do their fittings. No other company will go that far for their clients, no one.

What was the best part of your wedding day?
Besides getting married? It was just a perfect day, end to end.

What is your advice to other wedding couples thinking about designing custom suits or shirts?
Custom is the best option. Don't worry about the price. The groomsmen will thank you for it later.

Choose your favorite photo and tell us why.
My favorite photo is the one of use with the jackets inside-out and we are all laughing. It shows how much fun we had that entire day.

Handsome lot, aren't they?
BOOM!
It's what's on the inside that counts.

Weddings: Vivi and Bayan

Congratulations to Vivi and Bayan! The groom and his groomsmen were outfitted in custom suits from 9tailors that captured the sophisticated elegance of their fall wedding.  Black suits with subtle pinstripes for added sheen were just formal enough while allowing the guys to get more use from them after the wedding.

Three Piece Wedded Bliss

Here are some beautiful photos taken by Summer Street Photography of one of our clients on his wedding day. His three piece suit looks fantastic as do his groomsmen in their custom shirts. And, of course, the bride was stunning in her strapless gown. We love the laid back sophistication of Blair and Karen's wedding, hope it was as fun as it was beautiful!

The groom, Blair, looking great in his 9tailors shirt and three piece suit.

One of the groomsmen, George, looking fine in his 9tailors shirt.

Groomsmen Gifts

Those burly men traditionally protecting the bride and her dowry are now throwing bachelor parties and embarrassing you. These are your groomsmen. Get them something good to reward them for a job well done- that is if she makes it to the wedding in once piece and not all your secrets were aired during their speeches before your closest friends and family. Here a just a few ideas.

For the rustic men- cattle branders. They can go wild branding everything in sight with their initials, as long as it belongs to them.

A customized dress shirt from 9tailors. Get them the gift of style while making sure they look great all lined up behind you. Add some special details to make it personal such as a monogram or contrasting fabrics.

Unique cufflinks. Although this gift is more traditional, you can't go wrong with a good pair of cufflinks. Try to get each groomsman a set that reflects their personality.

For the TravellerFor the Sailor

For the Jock
The goal should be to get them something they will actually use. Pocket knives, engraved flasks, memberships to local clubs or a beer of the month club are just a few more ideas. We might be partial, but a custom dress shirt is probably the best gift ever. Email us at info@9tailors.com to make an appointment with a style consultant! And don't forget about the referral program.

How To: Dress your Groomsmen

Your groomsmen are usually the life of the party- a bunch of energetic guys keeping the dance floor filled and the drinks flowing. Make sure they look their best while they are entertaining your guests and standing before a congregation while you profess your undying love to your bride.

Traditionally the groomsmen have the same colors as their fearless leader, the groom, with a few twists. The groom should look the most formal of the bunch. Some opt for having a three piece suit while the groomsmen wear a two piece. A colorful bowtie, or other accent that serves to set apart the groom is all that is needed to clarify who the day is really for.

At 9tailors we specialize in wedding groups, making sure all the suits are the same shade of blue, the buttons match, and the fit is impeccable. If matching suits are the order of the day, make sure they are really matching. Once they are gathered around the alter it will become painfully obvious that their suits are not the same color.

Vests are the easiest way to draw attention to the groom. Put all the groomsmen in vests and the groom in a suit, as above.

If everyone is going to be wearing the same style, such as all in suits or all in slacks and vests, color is where the distinction should be made. If all the men are wearing vests make sure the groom has a different vest or tie than his counterparts.

Another, cheaper, option is to get dress shirts that match. You can get these at 9tailors in any shade with any type of contrasting fabric to work in the colors of your wedding.

Don't be afraid to get creative. A wedding is a personal expression of your style, have fun with it. Contact a 9tailors style consultant here to get a little help deciding how daring you want to get on your big day!

Top 5: Summer wedding looks

As a guest to a wedding you are expected to look good; groomed, properly dressed, and in any color but white. A bride wants her guests to look appropriate, but not to steal her thunder- she should be the only one in white (unless specifically asked to wear white avoid it at all costs). Yet in the summer a standard black suit may be too morbid, calling up images of funeral homes rather than a joyous celebration of love. Not to mention a black wool suit for a daytime wedding in July could quite possibly be the death of you. Here are some ideas of how to dress depending on the location, time of day, and style of the event.

1. Afternoon formal wedding.
Go for a light grey suit and a crisp lavender shirt. Its a fresh look and will set you apart from the rest. A tie is probably optional if the wedding is before sunset, but be sure to honor the couple's dress code.

2. Informal daytime wedding.
Get yourself a khaki suit. The cotton will keep you dramatically cooler than a wool suit and it has a fun air about it. Watch the pockets- they define how formal it can be made. Look for pockets with a flap to keep it from becoming too casual.

3. Daytime beach wedding.
Try a linen suit or even just the slacks. It's nice and breathable to keep you from getting overheated and just formal enough to fit in at a wedding. Just watch how light the color gets so you don't get into a competition with the bride. And don't fight the wrinkles, its all part of linen's charm.

4. Evening formal wedding.
The black suit will suffice here, hopefully you are in an air conditioned room to prevent heat stroke. Get yourself a great pair of wingtips and a bold tie to complete the look.

5. Black tie wedding.
This is a no-brainer. Wear a tux, gentlemen. If you want to get creative go with a navy or brighter blue (not too bright) tuxedo. A tux should never be worn during the day so be sure to analyze the announced dress code before deciding its appropriate.
