Movember: Mustaches For Your Suit!

Can't grow your own mustache? No problem! Tsaiclips allow you to wear a 'stache on your tie without the month long commitment in honor of Movember

available in silver, gold and gunmetal

Whether or not you think mustaches are too much of a hipster trend and needs to die down or if you think a man's face should never be naked for too long, they are here to stay; at least for the months of November to come.

The origin of the mustache trend is not entirely clear. Some think it's from PETA's "Grow Your Own Fur" campaign in 2010. Others believe it began when Movember officially began in 2003. Those who kept the 'stache past November and did not grow it into a winter beard became an "ironic hipster". Thusly the sprouting of the mustache trend by putting a 'stache on everything or making products in the shape of mustaches, particularly the handlebar mustache.

The good news? (Yes, there is good news about the mustache trend) It raises awareness for men's health. Buy a mustache tie clip, wear it with pride and show your support with class and not in an ironic hipster way but as a proud adult who knows how to tie their own tie. Even better? Women can wear it too.

Jegga What? Jegga Who? Jegman!

Back in early September, we participated in Fashion Night Out on Newbury Street. Alongside several other wonderful menswear designers, we had a booth in a thrifty pop-up store assembled by the dazzling folks at UpTempo Magazine. Among the flurry of activity from the sidewalk to the stores, creative minds and stylish ensembles wandered the streets and joined together to showcase what's what and who's who in Boston fashion. Much to our pleasant surprise, Boston really turned it onyou tell 'em you're not the worst dressed city! Slowly but surely, Bean.

Amidst all of the talent-bursting people we worked with, we happened upon a dashing young man, Jason Eli Glover. His company, Jegman, designs and produces some of the hippest ties we have ever seenrife with personality, rich with colors and ridiculously clever in pattern. So naturally, we thought of our clients and how much they might love this collection and gots to thinkin'...

We proudly debut Jegman to the 9tailors studio, assorted ties available for purchase now! Learn more about the company and the owner below:

What is your full company name?
Jegman Inc. Simply put, the word ‘jegman’ derives from the initials of our Founder’s name, Jason Eli Glover. We added “man” to his initials because, well, that’s who we proudly cater to.

Tell us about your company and your products. What is your favorite item out of your collection?
Jegman is a new menswear brand that makes designer neck ties. We provide the modern gentleman with high quality neckwear that suits a range of personalities. All of our ties are original designs and made by hand. Our label takes pride in having crafted an affordable collection that offers subtle novelty, smart colors, a hint of charm and the ability to start conversations.

What was your inspiration? Why did you get involved in fashion?
We were inspired by the all too common ties men wear today. So instead we decided to make ties for the uncommon man looking to dress his personality. Our current collection captures the "boyish charm" most men seem to have forgotten. Our mission is to provide men the benefits of being fashionably unique.

How do you define style? What's your best fashion advice?
Style is personal, no different than a finger print... it's your identity. Our advice for all, match your wardrobe to your true personality. Once aligned, everything else falls in place.

What made you want to partner with 9tailors?
We love the 9tailors team and service offering! Also, we enjoyed meeting at the FNO event and learning about their overall presence here in Boston.

The Ten Basics of Men's Suiting: Part II

Want to become a suiting pro? We previously posted 5 tips on men's suiting, and today we will complete the series with 5 more must-know basics.
(If you missed the first five tips, click here!)

1. Shirt and suit combinations: When matching up a shirt with your suit, make sure at least one part is more simple than the other. For example, if you have a gray suit, it is okay to wear a patterned shirt. While wearing a patterned suit (ie. bold pinstripes or herringbone) it is best to go with a solid-color shirt.

2. Tie and shirt combinations: Along with matching your suit and shirt, your tie must also coordinate. If the shirt is bold, make sure to go with a tie that is more subtle. Similarly, if the shirt is plain (ie. white or blue) you can choose a tie that is more bold in pattern or color.
For a more trendy look, try mixing patterns! But, make sure that the scope and size of the pattern varies; for example, try a small check shirt with a wider print tie-the shirt and tie do not have to be the same pattern!

3. Suiting Fabrics: Suits are most often made of wool, which is sometimes blended with cashmere. More casual summer suits can be made out of cotton and sometimes linen.

4. Fabric Patterns: While many suits are traditionally solid fabrics, pinstripes are a good option to brighten up your suit wardrobe. Stripes may be thin or thick, alternating colors such as gray and blue, or shades of grays and blacks.

5. Fit: To complete a perfect suit, it is important for your suit to fit properly! Suits can range from skinny fit to a more comfortable, American-style fit. A well-fitting suit will be fitted in the shoulders and waist. The jacket sleeve length should be slightly shorter than the shirt sleeve length, so that about a half inch of the shirt shows.

A white collared shirt is crisp, classic, and versatile. But how can you wear a white shirt for more than just a typical day at the office?
See below for the first 5 tips: (5 more to come this week!)

1. With a skinny tie. Whether patterned or solid, a skinny tie can make a white shirt look more modern and fun; great for a casual after-work look.
