Congratulations to Marc and Jen!

You've been following our journey to help Boston Marathon tragedy survivor, Marc Fucarile, and his wife, Jennifer Regan, in their wedding planning for the last few weeks. We met Marc and Jen back in February and designed gorgeous suits for Marc and their son, Gavin. Last night, the couple were married at Fenway Park and celebrated their special day at the elegant, Hotel Commonwealth. While temperatures hovered around 40°, their story of love, courage and endurance warmed our hearts.

Another Glimpse at a Client's Beautiful Wedding, Featuring our Bride-Groom, Tanya Cashorali

It's a rare occasion when we are granted full access to a client's wedding album rather than a few picked images. When we get to look through all of the pictures, we get to experience their wedding on a different level. Make sure you feel confident and attractive in whatever you decide to wear. If you don't feel comfortable in your suit or even shoes, that will show in your wedding pictures. Go through ever detail possible during the design process and then let your confidence take center stage when you put on your custom suit on your wedding day.

Women wearing menswear inspired fashion has always been a trend, it comes and goes every year, highlighting different aspects. Some designers focus on an over-sized blazer, others like the look classic look of a white button down with tailored pants, other designers don't even consider the suits and just go for the military inspired pea coats. For this blog post, we are showing you how two of our beautiful brides went for menswear attire for their nuptials instead of just one of them wearing a suit and the other wearing a dress.

Alexis and I chose to go the custom route after realizing how difficult it was to find affordable formal wear for women who don't necessarily fit into typical gender norms. The menswear you can find in stores wouldn't quite fit our feminine shapes, so we decided custom was the way to go. We had read good things about 9tailors and loved that the office was full of women who would understand that our bodies weren't shaped like men!

What Was Your Favorite Memory From Your Wedding Day?

My favorite memory from our wedding day has to be that amazing feeling when you first get intorduced as a married couple and walk into the reception to every person that you love cheering for you. That feeling was so intoxicating, I think it will always be my favorite memory!

Describe Your Wedding Style

I feel like this is a little tough to explain because our wedding was very non-traditional and didn't really have a very intentional style. However, it was just at the beginning of Fall and we decided to really let the season be our theme. So, everything was very Autumnal and outdoorsy. 

Our loving brides in their custom wedding suits. Each suit tailored to their specific curves and needs to make them look their best and just the way they envisioned on their Autumn wedding day. 

What's Your Best Style Advice to "Grooms"?

Ha, well I'll take give my best advice to fellow gay ladies who are considering a custom suit! Don't hesitate to go the custom route, it's worth every dollar to be 100% comfortable on your wedding day. Don't worry about what a traditional suit looks like and try to make yourself look the way you think you should. Look the way you want and just be yourself! And when it's all said and done, get yourself some sexy shoes to compliment your suit!

March Madness is About to Begin with Our Client, Dana Ford

When thinking about athletes and fashion, you think the latest active wear from Nike and Under Armour and advertisements with gatorade coming out of their pores as sweat. They live and breathe these products and garments. But what about when they're not being active? Serena Williams was one of the first to push the relationship between fashion and professional sports on the tennis court. People started paying attention to what athletes wore during the game instead of just how they dressed off the courts. 

However, college basketball has always required their coaches to wear suits. The sharper you're dressed, the greater presence you hold on the court and the more respect is demanded for you and your team. While coaching is absolutely the #1 priority for coaches, a well fitted suit that makes a statement comes second.

March Madness is about to begin in a couple of weeks, round 1 is on March 18th. It is a time for betting and being glued to the T.V in sports bars rooting for your old colleges. It is also a time to keep an eye on the coaches and how they present themselves. They know this is the season to bring out their best suits and put on their game faces because if their team goes down, so does their wardrobe. The fashion during March Madness is understatedly important that Esquire has even done reviews of the best and worst dressed coaches.

Congratulations to Phil and Matt - Dashing grooms in tweed

We love weddings, large and small. We had the chance to work with a very lovely couple, Phil and Matt several months ago on their intimate wedding in Boston. 


Both work in creative industries, so they wanted their wedding attire to be unique, yet classic. When they decided upon two complementary gray tweed blazers with matching contrasts, we were beyond thrilled! When the blazers arrived in the studio and we had posted it online, it set our Facebook feed a blaze with rave reviews!

What or who inspires your style? You may laugh but... who was better dressed than Ricky Ricardo. He had amazing style, incredibly masculine yet very classic.

Meet Our Client, Jeff Cumberland

Jeff Cumberland is the New York Jet's tight end player, #87. He signed as an un-drafted free agent in 2010 after graduating from the University of Illinois. He is fierce on the field and was voted in the Top 5 Tight End Pickups for this season's fantasy football. 

Off the field, I got to meet the Jeff Cumberland dappered-up in his 9tailors suits. This was my first time meeting him and was told he is shy. As a photographer, shy is a huge challenge. The images can come out stiff and no matter how often you change scenery, clothes or poses even, they can all end up looking the same. At first Jeff was a little bit more reserved but as the day went on, his energy began to pick up. He was sassy and having fun with the shoot and is ready to go after a GQ cover. Needless to say, I was relieved and excited to see the outcome.

Be who you really are! Fashion is what YOU make it - not following the norm, what others are wearing, and even what is in magazines and on the runways. It is OK to get creative and stylish as long as you aren't going overboard.

Who or What Inspires Your Style?
I inspire my own style and fashion. Although, I do look at some of the latest trends, I like to put my own spin and touch into it. I like to be different than everyone else especially my teammates in the locker room.

Jeff keeps everything personal and to his unique style by monogramming the cuffs of his shirts with his initials, "JC" - sitting beautifully over his diamond, gold watch. 

What is Your Favorite Piece from 9tailors?
My favorite 9tailors piece has to be my grey suit jacket paired with my black pants. I think the mismatched colors complement each other well and is definitely in-style for 2014.

How Difficult is it to Find Garments that Targets Your Specific Needs and Style?
It is sometimes difficult to find garments that are tailored to my specific needs and styles because of physique. Being 6'5" and a tall athlete, I almost always have to custom order a special wardrobe or have it tailored to my fitting.

New Years Eve with Bad Rabbits Member, Sheel

How are you celebrating your New Years? One of our favorite bands, Bad Rabbits, winner of Boston Music Awards Artist of the Year, will be playing at The Sinclair. If you're one of the lucky ones, you already got your tickets because they're sold out! 

Allow me to introduce Bad Rabbits member, Sheel; an inquisitive and bright young man with a definitive taste. 

When we met Sheel, we talked about what he wanted for fit, function (the man is the bad-ass drummer for Bad Rabbits) and look of his suit. We decided on a design inspired by Bruno Mars, a ticket pocket, black trim and single besom pocket lips. The black accents make the grays pop and ties the three piece suit together. The man has style, accessorizing with a gray bow tie, a black button down and hat, there's no denying him urbane character. Sheel arrived to the studio with a variety of ties to pair with his ensemble, and stepped out of the dressing room looking more dapper than we could have imagined. 

Of course bow ties are the better option for three piece suits. Sheel knew what he was doing when he designed his suit.

Meet Graham: Bassist for the Bad Rabbits

Meet Graham, an easygoing fella with a knack for old school classic menswear. While brainstorming his 9tailors garments, the Bad Rabbits bassist knew exactly the look he wanted to achieve. We decided to do a double breasted jacket in a brown herringbone to channel a timeless look with mass appeal. Once we decided on the brown fabric, the rest was history. The first time Graham tried everything on, he looked incredible.

"I normally look to other musicians past and present for style points. I think musicians have their own unique way of dressing that if done right really compliments their music and creates an iconic look that defines them and people recognize them by. Some of my style icons in music are Donny Hathaway, Pharrell Williams, Curtis Mayfield, Miles Davis, Marvin Gaye, Mos Def.

What is your favorite piece from 9tailors? 

The double breasted jacket they made for our performance on Jimmy Kimmel. I had never worn a double breasted jacket before, but 9tailors totally sold me on them. It's a classic look and they nailed it with the pinstripes and cut. It was exactly what I had envisioned.

What would be your style advice to other men in your professional field? 

"Find a look that suits you and go with it. Try and hone in on it and pick garments that really fit your own personal "brand" rather than going for many different styles."

Meet Dan: "Clothing should convey an understated confidence."

Meet Dan Romero, a stylish 9tailors client who waved goodbye to off-the-rack shopping long ago. As a young professional in a fairly conservative field, this handsome lad always comes to our studio brimming with design ideas that exceed trend-setting. He often creates classic yet modern garments that match his effortless look and cordial demeanor, as seen above in a 9tailors sports coat and shirt.

Why choose custom?

I'm a fairly lean guy, but with broader shoulders, so most off-the-rack shirts don't fit well. Regular cut shirts result in the dreaded "muffin top", whereas slim fit end up too tight up top. Same goes for jackets. I purchased my first custom shirt and jacket from 9tailors last fall and have been hooked ever since.

What inspires your style? Why?
I'm a big fan of "all-American style"—the right blend of classy, casual and rugged. Think JFK, Paul Newman and Steve McQueen.

In terms of elegance in dressing, Luciano Barbera has it figured out. Not only does he make some of the nicest fabrics in the world, but he's probably the world's most elegant dresser. If you were to sum up my thinking on clothing in a quote, it would be this one from him: “True elegance has just one rule: simplicity.”

What is your favorite piece from 9tailors?
My midnight blue, gold-button blazer. It's darker than your run-of-the-mill navy blue version and it has a contrast white polka dot lining and double vent in the back. I wear it almost every day—and get complimented almost as often.

What would be your style advice to other men in your professional field?
Clothing should convey an understated confidence, so do the basics well: dark colors for jackets and pants; solid blues and whites for shirts; a great pair of (usually brown) shoes. Then, add some subtle personal touches: cuff links; contrasting lining; interesting socks.
