We Love Bad Rabbits!

As some of you may know, we recently worked with the Boston-bred band, Bad Rabbits, designing some signature suits and shirts for one of our biggest photo shoots yet (practice a little patience—we'll roll out the photos in our Fall/Winter 2013 look book, we promise).

What you might not know is that BR just released their newest album, American Love, brimming with infectious tracks that epitomize the definition of "summer jams".  While us longtime fans, as well as other Boston music writers can attest, this new LP is chock full of soul-infused, rhythmic, and downright funky tunes that are so catchy, we dare you not to bop your head. With beats inspired by a multitude of genres like soul, funk, R&B, rock, among other influences, it's damn sure refreshing to the music lover's ear.

This past April, Bad Rabbits kicked off Spring with a national tour opening for the lyric-spitting Kendrick Lamar and table-turning Steve Aoki. Just a few weeks ago, they opened up Beantown's first official festival Boston Calling. Oh, and did we mention they rocked both the late night shows of Jimmy Kimmel and Craig Ferguson in May? Yeah, that's right...and they killed it.

So, to provide a little preview of this album and the dapper suits we designed for them, check the Bad Rabbits performances on Kimmel below!

Like what you see? So do we.  Stay tuned for more on the Bad Rabbits when we roll out individual profiles of each band member this coming Fall! Inspired to create your one-of-a-kind suit or shirt? Contact a Style Consultant today info@9tailors.com

Steal His Look: Tom Brady

Tom Brady's ability to balance fashion with masculinity is unparalleled in the world of sports. He proves time and time again he is just as comfortable in designer suits as in his Patriots jersey. With the addition of a few key items anyone can emulate his style, but maybe not his talent on the field.

While colors can be fun, Brady sticks to a more conservative palate. He typically wears dark blues, black, and browns. Since all of these are neutrals they can be worn together, and with nearly any other color- versatility is key.

To the right is an example of Brady in a tailored navy blazer and a brown t-shirt underneath. Two accessories set him apart. First is the pocket square, which provides a formal contrast to an otherwise casual ensemble. The second is a plaid scarf which makes his tailored outfit somewhat playful.

Below is an example of his perfectly executed evening wear. Classic black tux with a hand tied bowtie. Scared of tying your own? Check out the How To here.

So if you want to emulate his style you need 4 pieces,
1. A perfectly tailored blazer that 9tailors can have made especially for you.
2. A classic tux that can be worn for all formal occasions, 9tailors can also help you with that.
3. A bowtie. Classic black is good to start with but you can always get fancier later as you branch out.
4. A patterned scarf to keep your outfits from looking too stiff. More ideas on scarfs here.

And the winner is.....

Meet the winner of our Valentine's Day Giveaway...Jason Braaten. Congratulations!

A picture of Jason with his daughter

We were so moved by the story Jason's wife, Olivia, wrote to us. Here's a small excerpt from Olivia's nomination. Olivia writes:

Meet Jason. He’s the guy our little girl is running to greet at the door. The guy that lights up our home with his good-natured personality.  The guy that makes this house a home.  You’ve probably met men like Jason before. Maybe you’ve even overlooked them. They seem to have it all together. The charming smile, the pleasant demeanor, the classy sense of style.  (Most of us don’t have a chance to peek inside their closets. If we did, we’d probably be surprised at how they make do with so little.)

Thank you, Olivia!

Everyone had such amazing stories to tell. It was very difficult to choose just one. So, we would like to give a special thanks to all of you who entered in our Valentine's Day Giveaway. It was such a pleasure reading everyone's heartfelt stories on the day/week/month that we celebrate love. What a fantastic reminder of how many amazing people there are in our lives.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

Giveaway Entries We Loved

Thank you to everyone who entered in the Giveaway- and those that didn't, there is still time! Here are some excerpts from the entries we received.

Here is one from Ly nominating her fiance Kieran

"Three words for you- Denim on Denim! :) The very first time I met Kieran in 2000, he was wearing a light colored stone washed denim jacket and denim jeans. CRINGE! To this day he defends this outfit."

This one is from Niki who nominated her husband

“I think it is time for an updated, more fashionable look for the man who has to assure me that my outfit looks good on a fairly frequent basis. Not to mention the countless hours he spends watching Project Runway alongside me (true, he sometimes has his laptop in tow, but it is the thought that counts!)."

This one is from Bernadette for her fiance Alex

"So we strolled home along the Washington Mall, and Alex detoured to the Reflecting Pool by the Jefferson Memorial. In a moment of pouting, I exclaimed, "My feet hurt and we're going the wrong way!" to which he responded, "I think we're going the right way." And he was down on one knee asking me to marry him, with stars twinkling above, the Jefferson Memorial lit up behind us, and the cherry trees surrounding us."

Because he knows what he wants, Eric entered himself

“This lackluster environment is the modern day workplace, and its been under siege by the Council of the Ultra Business Casual. With the CUBC in control, a guy need only to zip his fly in order to be ‘dressed for work.’ So I started my own revolution against the CUBC. But I need heavier fire-power. I need an atomic bomb. Something so well-fitting that it blinds the CUBC with tailored perfection. I need a good suit.”
