Meet James and Emily!

As wedding planning can get awfully tiresome and unbearably stressful, we understand your needs as a couple to make everything run as smoothly and perfectly as you have always dreamt it. That's why we take time getting to know you and what you are searching for. We work with you to achieve the exclusive look that helps tell your love story. At 9tailors, we thrive on helping people design their wedding attire. Read below about James and Emily's experience.

Congratulations, Emily and James!

What are your names?
James Darragh and Emily Barrett

Where and when was the big day?
Bull Point, private home in Jamestown, RI on June 16, 2012

How was the weather? Was your wedding indoors/outdoors?
We lucked out with a picture perfect Rhode Island summer day. Everything took place outside: the lawn ran down to the water's edge, overlooking Narragansett Bay and Newport - it was an amazing backdrop for the wedding.

Why did you decide to go with 9tailors on your own custom design?
Our wedding was a labor of love - we hand-made absolutely everything we could, and our personalities came through in the small details. We wanted to put our touch on everything, and 9tailors was the perfect way to do that for James's formal wear. It was a lot of fun to customize the shirt down to the smallest detail. The shirt fit perfectly.

Describe your 9tailors experience and items
When we heard that 9tailors would be in New York City, we booked an appointment immediately. Samantha was a wonderful consultant - she guided us through the many, many style, color, and pattern options and helped design the perfect shirt. The step-by-step process was easy with her guidance... there were so many ways to customize the small details, and her expertise was spot on.

What was the best part of your wedding day?
Our wedding day was amazing - it was wonderful to celebrate with so many of our favorite people! For us, the ceremony was the best part of the day. It was great to stand up there together, overlooking the water, and to see our family and friends so happy for us. The BBQ dinner was pretty good, too and not even a drop of sauce got on the shirt!

What is your advice to other wedding couples thinking about designing custom suits or shirts?
Go for it! A wedding is the perfect occasion to go all-out. 9tailors makes the entire process special and easy. It is especially fun to re-wear the shirt, thinking back on all of the memories of our wedding day. This isn't our last 9tailors custom shirt!

Hey, it's his day, he does what he wants

Choose your favorite photo and tell us why.
We had so much fun taking pictures in the photo booth. It was a time to be playful and silly in our formalwear, and we loved seeing all of our guests do the same. We took this picture right before we hit the dance floor - the calm before the storm!

Before the dancing ensued...

Upcoming nuptials? Thinking about designing your own shirt or suit?  Garment turnaround time is typically five weeks. We offer rush priority for an additional fee, but we recommend having a consultation at least two months prior to your wedding date (to alleviate your stress and ensure the perfect fit!) Email a style consultant at customerservice@9tailors.com for any questions or to request more information.

Get Groomed with 9tailors

photo from zimbio.com

Did you get engaged over the holiday season, like the celebrity couples above (Steven Tyler, Matthew  McConaughey or John Legend)? Congratulations!  Like many of these couples, we have no doubt that you have already started thinking about the wedding! The venue? The date? Luckily, for those located in New England, we have really awesome local resources like, Boston Bridal LoungeBeantown Bride and Style Me Pretty Massachusetts to help you find the right vendors.

What can the groom do while the bride is researching florists, fine China and planners? The savvy groom can get started on his own outfit, of course!

Are you eclectic like Steven Tyler? Laid-back like Matthew McConaughey? Or, smooth and sophisticated like John Legend? No matter what your style, we can help you achieve the look that you're going for for your wedding. You don't have to just rent your tuxedo! There are many options. This whole week 9tailors will be featuring a few of our favorite weddings of 2011 to inspire you!

Wedding FAQs:

1) How much is a custom designed suit and/or dress shirt?
A custom suit starts at $490.50 and a custom dress shirt starts at $79. There are various fabric types and collections, which may increase the final price. There is a 15% discount of wedding parties of 3 or more.

2) How long does the whole process take?
We recommend starting no later than 2 months before the big day. While we can turn suits faster than that, we would prefer 2 months to produce the suit around and make any last minute alterations or adjustments.

3) Should I bring my fiance with me to the appointment?
Yes! We definitely recommend bringing your significant other or a responsible member of the wedding party with you. This is particularly important if your fiance has very specific vision of what she or he wants!

4) What should I bring with me to the appointment?
If you bring a swatch of her dress, bridesmaid dresses or table linen, that all helps us to pair colors to together! We also recommend bringing the shoes or any other accessory that you might be wearing to the wedding as well.

5) I am planning to lose/gain weight before the wedding. Will my suit and dress shirt fit?
If you are planning to lose or gain weight, we will take your measurements during the first fitting. However, we will likely perform the alterations 1 month before the wedding or until you feel like your weight has stabilized.

How To: Rock Your Socks

No longer should drab greys and bland blacks rule your sock drawer. Give your feet the attention they deserve with eye catching socks. As winter slowly comes to an end and boots are swapped for lighter loafers try a bit of a bold sock peeking out from under your pants' hem.

Below the street style expert Tommy Ton captured some of the best moments for socks this season.

Try fire-engine red with a tailored grey suit, electric blue with a fitted black suit, stripes with a navy blazer and khakis, get creative. Go wild, they're just socks.

Ten Ways To....

Wear your white shirt--part II!

As promised, here are 5 more easy ways to wear a white dress shirt.

1. With a light grey suit. Light grey is a perfect summer suit shade, and is extremely versatile. Wear with a white shirt for a fresh summer look!

2. With a linen suit. Linen is a casual, lightweight fabric that is breathable for those hot summer days.

3. With khaki shorts. Dress down a breathable white shirt with khaki shorts; a great combination for a day at the Cape.

4. With a bow tie. Create a funky, fun look by wearing a bow tie with a white shirt; it can be a casual look-not just for a tuxedo!

5. With a sweater (for fall!). Finally, a white shirt can look great under a sweater. This of course is best left for fall and winter, but keep it in mind when you pull out your sweaters in a few months! It can add a lot to an outfit, and can be dressed up or down.
