Meet Brandon: Our Dashing Groom in Midnight Blue

Meet Brandon. Brandon recently got married earlier this year and we wanted to share his beautiful photos with you!

Name: Brandon
Age: 30
Hometown: Stoughton, MA
Current Residence: Boston, MA
Occupation: Financial Analyst

Why choose custom?
The fit is unmatched. If you are fairly thin with broad shoulders then finding clothes at a department store that fits is nearly impossible. Even those that claim to be "slim fit" still look boxy. Going custom means the suit or shirt is made to measurement to fit your body. The icing on the cake is the customization. There are so nearly unlimited fabrics, colors and details that you can personalize to your own taste and make your item truly unique.

What would be your style advice to men in your professional field?

Proper fitting shirts and suits can change your whole appearance. People take notice when someone puts the time and thought into presenting themselves well. The whole point of formal and even business casual attire is to look professional. If you are wearing clothes that doesn't fit you properly then you really don't project the professional image that was intended whether to outside clients or colleagues.

What/who inspires your style? Why?

For my wedding, the inspiration to my custom tuxedo was certainly James Bond. Specifically, Daniel Craig in Skyfall wore a midnight blue tuxedo that I borrowed from heavily. I wanted a formal formal look without appearing too stuffy and 9tailors nailed it!

What is your favorite piece from 9tailors?

The midnight blue tuxedo is phenomenal. I had a vision in my head and it came out even better than I could have imagined. For everyday use though, I have a gray herringbone tweed sport coat that is my go to jacket in the fall. The fit is great and there is lavender accenting under the lapel.

How difficult is it to find garments that targets your specific needs and style?

Very. The reality is everyone's body is different so trying to find something fits your personal style AND fits your body is nearly impossible. Truly like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

Location: Artist for Humanity

Three Piece Wedded Bliss

Here are some beautiful photos taken by Summer Street Photography of one of our clients on his wedding day. His three piece suit looks fantastic as do his groomsmen in their custom shirts. And, of course, the bride was stunning in her strapless gown. We love the laid back sophistication of Blair and Karen's wedding, hope it was as fun as it was beautiful!

The groom, Blair, looking great in his 9tailors shirt and three piece suit.

One of the groomsmen, George, looking fine in his 9tailors shirt.

The men relaxing before the ceremony.

The lovely couple, Blair and Karen, during the ceremony.

Blair and Karen after the ceremony.

The details.
All the best from the 9tailors team!

A pistol tie bar anyone? Show your subordinates (or superiors) you mean business with this vintage piece.

Just plain quirky, this pair of cufflinks will keep that crisp white shirt anything but boring.

How To: Redefine the Grey Suit

At 9tailors we are constantly being impressed by our clients creativity. Just when you though suits had been done every which way an exceptional client will come in and request details that wow even the most jaded suit-wearers out there. Here is an example of what I'm talking about. This came into the studio last week and we thought you would enjoy the fresh ideas.

The vest, in a darker grey, has a pinstripe running through it in the same shade as the suit pulling all the different pieces together.

Here is a close up of the buttonhole detailing. The last buttonhole on the sleeve is in a bright pink to match the two buttonholes at the waist.

Here is a snapshot of the inside. Hot pink lining to match the contrast buttonhole stitching on the outside and a purple welted edge for added flare make this jacket one of a kind.

Let us know if you feel like making a bold statement with your next suit at info@9tailors.com. Design yourself something different with a 9tailors style consultant. More to come!

Steal This Style: The Bostonian

Usually Thursday's post is dedicated to recognizing one particular male and his achievements in dress. Today, we honor the entire city of Boston for its traditionally preppy ensembles and give a few tips on how to achieve this scholarly look. Home of the greatest sports teams, resting place of founding fathers, and packed with more college students than any other city, Boston has a lot to offer. Here's how to capture the essence of Boston through your clothes. Dress shirts under sweater vests, polos with chinos, striped cardigans, argyle sweaters, navy blue blazers, Nantucket red shorts, and washed khakis are all staples in New England. Here are a few examples off the runway.

Now take the above and make it your own.

Classic without becoming boring; Mix up traditional pieces by clashing patterns and bold colors. Go ahead, pair your red plaid shirt with a faintly checked pant in a neutral color. Add a timeless trench to combat the ever changing weather. Take the extra step in personalizing your apparel. Make an appointment with a style consultant who can help you design a blazer specifically made for you. Picky about fit? Your style consultant will take over 15 measurements to ensure your blazer fits like a glove. Have a vision for your buttons? We would be more than happy to source out your ideal buttons. Email info@9tailors.com with your questions!

How To: Tie a Bow-Tie

If you wear a tie everyday you would never think of using a clip-on, would you? It defeats the purpose of looking professional and polished. So, why do some men use pre-tied bow-ties? Is the thought of tying your own so daunting you avoid the activity altogether? Here is a step by step guide for the men, and the women who want to help their men, to get the crowning jewel of formal wear properly fastened.

Step 1. Place the tie around your neck. Leave the left end about an inch and a half longer than the other.

Step 2. Choose how loose you want the tie to be using the first button as a guide. Then cross the long end over the short end.

Step 3. Slip the long end under the portion of the tie around your neck. Hold the two ends together at the button to keep it together.

Step 4. Make a zig zag with the shorter of the two pieces beneath where your fingers are holding it together.

Step 5. Bring the long end down and over the zig zag you have made with the shorter of the two ends.

Step 6. Gather the zig zag made with the shorter piece and pull it up to the center. Arrange the folds depending on how you want your tie to sit.

Step 7. Hold everything in place. Take the long piece, fold it over itself, and pull it behind the gathered zig zag and through the back. Loop it through to the left.

Step 8. Pull tight. Arrange the bow as you see fit.

Congratulations! You have tied your own bow-tie. It may take a few practice runs before you feel comfortable with the final product. But, in 8 simple steps the intimidating bow-tie has been reduced to a more than manageable task. Now that you have the hard part down, let 9tailors help you find the perfect dress shirt to match.
