Get 'em While They're Hot...

This just in! We are offering our limited edition shirting fabrics at 25% off! We've somehow procured enough fabric to make 3 or 4 shirts each. This means that you probably won't run into another guy wearing the same exact shirt as you...unlike all of these guys who are apparently wearing the same J Crew gingham shirt.

The fabrics are buttery smooth, two-ply, 120 thread count shirting material. Normally, these luxury fabrics are $159.00 per shirt, but now they're available to you for $119.25 for a limited time through the end of October.

Contact us at info@9tailors.com to schedule an appointment.

*Rules & Restrictions:
  • Additional customization options are full price
  • Applies for limited edition fabrics only
  • May not be combined with other discounts or promotions
  • Discount may not be applied to past purchases
  • Expires October 31st, 2014

Layering Up for Fall

Temperatures are dropping and leaves are turning...fall is here! Here are a few tips on how to layer up without looking like the Michelin man.

Tip #1: Scarves! Yes, scarves can be manly. In fact, they can add just the right touch to an outfit, while giving you a ton of extra warmth. Your neck, head and hands are the likely to be the only uncovered body parts, so wearing the appropriate gear will keep you significantly warmer without needing a full jacket.

Tip #2: Vests! You've never had a better excuse to wear a three piece suit. It's really your best bet in chilly weather. Not only does it give you an extra layer of warmth on your core, when you get inside to the heated office, you can take your suit jacket off and still look dressed to the nines.

Tip #3: Tweed! Tweed is a fabric made from woolen yarn. It has a rough, open texture but can also be soft to the touch. It is ideal for cold weather because it has great insulating properties. Plus, it has some serious versatility.

Tip #4: Don't be afraid to mix and match! Chances are, your mixed patterns will actually be more stylish than having everything match perfectly. While mixing patterns and textures can go terribly wrong, it can also go wonderfully right. Here's a do and don't example:

DON'T:
Mix and match that makes you dizzy. Way too much going on here.

DO:
Mix and match patterns, textures and colors done just right!

Tip #5: Sweaters/cardigans! A simple, solid sweater can go a long way. Pick up some standard fall colored knits...greys, burgundy, browns, navy...you get the point. Not only do they keep you toasty, but they switch up your regular outfits, making it appear that you have an enormous wardrobe.

So there you have it, some simple tips to staying warm and looking great. Contact us at info@9tailors.com to order your vests, tweeds, patterned shirts and custom jackets! We'll have you looking dapper in no time.

How To: Pack a Suit Jacket

It's finally summer! It's time to gear up and unleash your inner adventurer. One of the worst things about travelling? Packing. If you're like many men out there, packing takes about 5 minutes. But, you might wind up with too few undershirts or too many socks. If you add a suit to mix, it adds another layer of tedium and challenge.

Lucky for you, we have just the trick when it comes to packing your sport coats and suit jackets.

Avoid ruining your valuables with this...

Four Signs You Have a Packing Problem. Packing Tips for those who have left their passport at home, cleaned up messy shampoo spills or stuff their suitcase too much! Via Independent Traveler

by using our step-by-step instruction:

  1. Grab your suit jacket
  2. Reach both hands into the shoulders of the jacket
  3. Ensure your hands reach to the end of the shoulder inside the jacket
  4. Fold the shoulders back to meet each other (as if clapping your hands together)
  5. Take one of your hands and turn the jacket inside out by folding it over the other shoulder (Keeping the lining outside keeps the fabric safe when packed)
  6. Ensure it's folded over neatly, meeting the other shoulder,
  7. Straighten it out
  8. Fold it half neatly
  9. Place neatly in your suitcase and hop on the bus/car/boat/plane!

Meet our Client, Santi of The Bad Rabbits

We love interacting with our clients past the initial consultation. It's important to us to build relationships with the gentlemen we work with. It's great that you get the suit you're looking for but we want you to walk out with an experience. One of our goals is to not only make you feel excited about your wardrobe but feel great about working with us. We have a 100% satisfaction guarantee policy that extends to our customer service in addition to your garments.

Allow me to present you with one of our clients, a member of the Bad Rabbits, Santi.

Meet Santi, a slick guitarist with a classic, clean sense of style. When we met Santi, we discussed his fashion and fit preferences to assess how best to integrate his individual taste into his 9tailors items. The result? We based the design off the svelte suits of Don Draper, and edged up the classic slim fit with a new pant pocket style and the jacket's velvet bottom lapel. Seen above, this guy pulls off "gentleman" flawlessly.

Age: 30
Hometown: Philadelphia, PA
Current residence: New York, NY
Occupation: Musician

How long have you been a 9tailors client?
"Five months."

Why choose custom?
"I wanted to sit with 9tailors and design something based on my own specific style and incorporate my ideas, as well as use their knowledge and expertise to help guide me and spark ideas for the custom suit I ordered."

What/who inspires your style? Why?
"Classic, classy and well fitting. I like to find garments that fit your own unique body form and highlight the strong attributes you have. You don't want to bite someone else's style because they are not you and things don't fit on them the same as you."

What is your favorite piece from 9tailors?
"My custom suit jacket is my favorite piece. The velvet lapels add a great touch and make it a unique jacket. The fit is great and the material just works with the whole thing."

How difficult is it to find garments that targets your specific needs and style?

"I find it difficult to get something that is specifically you, simply because garments aren't designed with your own style in mind. You may find a lot of things out there that you like, but nothing that is specific to you."

What would be your style advice to other men in your professional field?
"Define your style, embrace it and stay inspired."

We couldn't agree more!

    Spring Fashion Inspiration

    Alexander McQueen Spring 2013

With the winter weather reaching its very cold temperatures, we can only dare to anticipate the approach of spring. With warm temperatures comes new fashion trends for the season. Spring 2013 has some rather unique looks for mens suiting. One designer I thought that really stepped up the bar for mens fashion is Alexander McQueen.  Alexander McQueen for spring 2013 incorporates metallic hues, bold colors, polka dot prints and even giant dragonflies printed across suit jackets. I am excited to see how these prints and colors will be incorporated into springs ready to wear for men. How daring will you go with your fashion choices this spring? Would your favorite blazer have insects crawling across it? Or would your trousers have a shiny metallic look that matches your jacket's lapel? How ever you decide to dress this spring, one thing is for certain, feel free to have fun with your look, anything goes.

At 9tailors,  we can help you stay on trend this spring, by assisting you with your own personal custom suit design. Want to be bold in a pattern? We promise to help you stand out as the warm weather approaches. Email a Style Consultant at info@9tailors.com to schedule your appointment today!

    Suit Lining 2013

Have you ever wondered why your suit has lining? Suit lining affects the overall comfort of the suit jacket. Lining also allows the jacket to breathe and allow moisture to pass through. Most importantly, it allows the jacket to move with the body. At 9tailors, we offer numerous lining options to make the appearance of your jacket even more unique and custom. Stay fashion forward in 2013 with some of our new lining options below.

Like what you see? So do we! The combinations are endless! Dreaming about a new suit, sports coat or blazer with a funky inside? Email a Style Consultant at info@9tailors.com and see what linings and pipings will suit your style best!

    Featured in The Improper Bostonian

We recently got featured in a bespoke themed photo shoot for the fashion section of the Improper Bostonian. How dapper do these men look! The man on the right is wearing a vest and matching trouser from 9tailors. See the original article here.

    Style Inspiration: The Great Gatsby

    See the Movie Trailer HERE
If you have read the popular novel, The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald, then you have probably already reserved your seats for the new movie based on the famous storyThe film, set to be released in May 2013, starring the one and only Leonardo DiCaprio, takes place during the Roaring Twenties, post World War I. Narrated by Nick Carraway, a Yale graduate and WWI vet who lives next to the mansion of Jay Gatsby, a millionaire who throws extravagant parties, the book is a timeless classic that any person would enjoy. If you haven't had the chance, we highly recommend you pick up a copy for a good read.

The Great Gatsby may be based in the Twenties, but with the new release of the movie comes new fashion trends for 2012-2013. This season's fall/winter  runways were covered with men dressed to the nines in full two-piece suits, differing in shades of browns, featuring dropped waistline trousers, wide leg trousers, and suspenders. Designers, like Armani, Valentino. and Louis Vuitton have been achieving head-to-toe vintage looks reminiscent of the 1920's era.

At 9tailors,  we can help you stay on trend by assisting you with your own personal custom suit design. Going for something in the vein of the Gatsby look? We promise to help you look like you time-traveled from the Roaring Twenties, or in this case, walked right off the movie screen. Email a Style Consultant at info@9tailors.com to schedule your appointment today!
